Save Money and Help Homeschoolers
By Cherise Ryan
Gearing up for another school year? HSLDA and the Home School Foundation are teaming up to get the word out about some helpful, smart curriculum shopping options available to homeschoolers.
Most curriculum doesn’t have to be bought brand-new off the shelf. HSLDA’s Curriculum Market enables homeschoolers all across America to sell their gently used curriculum to other homeschoolers. Especially in these hard economic times, every little bit helps, and this site auctions hundreds of items at discount prices. You must be an HSLDA member to buy from the site, but anyone can sell.
So, if you want to look for used curriculum, or if you have subjects you are finished with and want to sell, the Curriculum Market is a great resource for getting materials at a low price, making money off your old stuff, and blessing other families with the chance to stretch their curriculum dollars.
And yet another way to help fellow homeschoolers while preparing for your school year: purchase materials online from a business that gives to the Home School Foundation. All you have to do is go to Clicks for Homeschooling and click on the link to the store of your choice. Then shop as you normally would do. The store
will track that you came from Clicks for Homeschooling and donate a percentage of what you spend to the Foundation. You don’t have to pay any extra—all you have to do is go to theHSLDA Clicks site first, and the online retailer does the rest.
The Foundation has an affiliate agreement with dozens of popular retailers including Amazon.com, Answers in Genesis, Family Christian Stores, Rosetta Stone, Barnes and Noble, National Geographic, Staples, and many, many others. Last year, Clicks for Homeschooling generated over $37,000 in donations to the Foundation’s Compassion Fund.
So shop smart while you’re preparing for this next school year—save money and help many other homeschoolers in need.
